If you live in the city, you must have already seen hundreds of scooters riding past. Some people buy their own. Many just rent them. Have you ever thought why scooters are so popular? We are here to answer this question today. So here are five reasons why scooters are so popular.

Electric scooters are green, and green is popular

No one should doubt climate change anymore: it is real, it is at least partly our fault, and we should do something about it. It is what authoritative institutions, such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, say. One way of reducing climate change is by producing less CO2. And this is what electric vehicles do: they emit less CO2. Of course, walking on foot and riding bikes might still be more ecological but using an electric scooter is much greener than using a car. Still, it is not the only reason why people choose electric scooters.

Scooters are popular for commuting

Often, this is one of the main reasons why people choose electric scooters: to commute. It is not only more ecological to ride scooters instead of using cars, but also more economical. You do not need to pay for gas and parking fees are very seldom. You may also only use them for the so-called “first and last mile”. For example, you might take the bus to your work, but you have to walk for 20 minutes to get to the bus stop. Or there might be 15 minutes left to reach your workplace after you get off the bus. Most people cover such distances on foot, and that’s great! However, if you want to travel quicker and tire out less, you can consider e-scooters. They are great for commuters because scooters are:

Easy to ride and carry

Scooters do not weigh much: foldable scooters are usually between 10 and 15 kilos. And foldable scooters are the best for commuting in the city. While other scooter types might be faster and sturdier, foldable scooters make up for it with their convenience. They are much easier to bring into buildings or carry onto public transport, than, say, bikes or other scooters.

Scooters are also easy to ride. Unlike with bikes, you do not have to pedal: you kick start your scooter and then ride with the help of an electric motor. It means you do not arrive at your destination tired and sweaty. Scooters are also easy to navigate and do not require any special licenses. Of course, there are some regulations. For example, you usually cannot ride electric scooters on sidewalks. Learn about scooter laws in California and Hawaii.

Scooter maintenance is easy

Scooters are also easy to maintain, unlike cars or motorcycles! Still, it is a bit more expensive than bike maintenance, mainly because of such components as the battery. You should also regularly check if tires and brakes are functioning well. You can check air-filled tires with a bike pump. But this is usually very easy.

Of course, you have to charge your electric scooter regularly. Electric scooter charge usually lasts for about 18 miles or an average of 2 hours. It might be the biggest worry. It does not take much electricity: low capacity scooter can cost as little as 2 cents to charge in the US. Of course, the higher the capacity, the more it will cost. Scooters of very high capacity could cost up to 45 cents to charge. Time is more of a nuisance, though: to charge, scooters can take anywhere from one to twenty-five hours. Usually, consumer scooters take between 3 and 8 hours. Five hours is the average. Check out this handy calculator to figure out how long it would take for a scooter to charge.

Scootering is fun!

Last but not least, electric scooters are fun. They don’t require effort to ride. You ride in the fresh air and avoid traffic jams. And you look cool! Electric scooters even infiltrated youth culture: they seem to be pushing out skateboards.

Cars are like the default vehicle. However, there is more than one reason you might want a two‑wheeled ride instead. They are cheaper, more flexible and might even be better for health! But there are many two-wheeled vehicles fit for the road. How do you know which is better for you, moped or scooter or motorcycle? We will compare them to help you make a decision.

Mopeds, souped-up bikes

Mopeds are often confused with scooters because of how similar they look. The word moped is an abbreviation for motorized pedal bikes. The pedals help propel the vehicle, and the motor only assists: you still have to pedal like on an e-bike. All mopeds used to have pedals. Well, some mopeds still have them. But now, the term is often applied to vehicles based on their engine size, even if they have no pedals.

So, the engine is the principal defining quality: mopeds are usually classified as having engines up to 50cc (cubic centimeters). A moped is also slow: its maximum speed is 28-30 miles per hour.

According to moped regulations, you cannot use mopeds on highways. The legal age for mopeds differs: for example, you can ride a moped from age 10 in Arkansas. But in California, the legal age is 16. Usually, you only need a valid driver’s license if you are over 16 years old. Between ages 14 and 16, a class D or MD license would work.

Want something more powerful than a moped? Consider a motor scooter

Scooters, unlike mopeds, are powered only by motors. Their engine sizes vary from 50cc to 250cc. An important feature is the step-through platform to rest the legs. You could find scooters with engines larger than 250cc, but they do not classify as motorcycles because of the step-through design.

They are also easier to ride and maneuver than motorcycles. Also, you don’t smell like gas and exhaustion fumes so much. Scooters usually have an electrical charging system.

Usually, the same rules apply to scooters as to motorcycles. But age requirements for scooters vary from state to state. Some states have no scooter laws, such as Alaska, since scooters are not yet regulated there. In some, such as Michigan, the legal age is 12. It’s 14 in Mississippi. And in many other states, the legal age is 16, like for motorcycles. Scooters have the same rules as motorcycles. You usually need a motorcycle endorsement to ride on the streets, as well as motorcycle insurance and protective gear, such as a helmet. You will likely need to pass the motorcycle test to ride scooters, although some states might have separate motor scooters tests.

The most serious of the three: motorcycles

Not only are they the most powerful, but they also have the longest history: people have been riding them since the end of the 19th century. Motorcycles handle speed better, have better acceleration and wind protection. They also have larger wheels. Motorcycle engine sizes usually start from 250cc, although there are some exceptions, such as off-road motorcycles. They are great both for commuting and long trips.

You also mount them: as we mentioned before, sometimes this is the only difference between a motorcycle and a scooter. Although, transmission can also differ: most motorcycles have manual transmissions, while scooters often have automatic transmissions.

The legal age to ride motorcycles is 16. You must also have a motorcycle license. The rules are basically the same as those for scooters.

So, should you choose a moped or scooter, or motorcycle?

Like usually, it depends. A moped can give you more exercise than a scooter and has fewer regulations. They are best for commuting within the city since you cannot ride them on highways. Scooters and motorcycles are pretty similar. Often, people choose motorcycles for their style as biker culture is attractive to many. Of course, motorcycles usually have more powerful vehicles and can go faster, but they are often less eco-friendly. You will also smell like gas! Motor scooters can be a great alternative for people who want to travel on a two-wheeled vehicle comfortably but do not want to be bikers.

If you are only looking for a commuting or short trips transportation device, consider electric scooters and bikes. Sometimes, a rental car is also great. You can rent them all on XRental!

Are you interested in bikes? There are so many types of bikes for every want and need that it can get confusing. Bike classifications can also differ. Let us help you! In this guide, we will analyze bike types, their advantages, and their ideal uses.

One of the classic bike types: road bikes

It is one of the most popular types. Their unique feature is turned-down handles. They are also light and have large but skinny tires. The purpose of a road bike is to allow you to be as fast as possible on pavements. They are great for exercising and riding long distances but are only good on smooth surfaces. Because of its skinny tires, a road bike will be unstable on uneven ground.

For rough terrains: mountain bikes

It’s the opposite of a road bike. Mountain bikes have a durable frame and wide, knobby tires, often made from aluminum, titanium, or carbon fiber. Despite this, they are not heavy. As the name suggests, mountain bikes are for rugged and uneven terrains, such as dirt roads and mountain paths with many bumps. Mountain bikes have great braking systems and shock absorption systems to allow you to ride on bad surfaces as safely and comfortably as possible.

A mix bike type: hybrid bikes

This type of bikes is a mix between road bikes and mountain bikes. There are different types of hybrids. For example, there is a fitness bike that is pretty similar to a road bike. It’s great for people who want to exercise on a bike. A sports hybrid has thicker tires and suspensions: it can go both on pavement and light trails, such as hard dirt. There is also a comfort bike that does not ride so well or as fast but is very comfortable. It is meant for leisure rides in the city and is perfect for tourists on vacations.

For stunts and tricks: BMX

This acronym means Bicycle Motor Cross because they are ridden similarly to motor cross, on short dirt tracks. They have pretty small wheels and only one gear but are low-maintenance and great for performing tricks. There can also be freestyle and jumping BMX bikes: freestyle bikes with super durable frames are ideal for skateparks and performing stunts, while jumping bikes, obviously, are great for jumping ramps.

Long comfy trips with touring bikes

A touring bike is not very fast, but it’s very comfortable for long journeys. Otherwise, it’s similar to a classic road bike. Their frames are quite sturdy, and you can attach racks and then bags, water bottles, and more: a fair amount of baggage. Touring bikes are great on roads, but they can also handle gravel roads.

Gravel or cyclocross bikes

Cyclocross is a type of bicycle racing: cyclists ride many laps, including pavement, grass, dirt roads, hills. There are also obstacles when the cyclist has to dismount and carry the bike to pass. Gravel bikes are similar to road bikes but have thicker tires: they are good for riding both on-road and off-road. They are also pretty lightweight.

To perfect your legwork: fixies

Fixies is a short name for fixed gear or track bikes. As the name suggests, these bikes only have one gear, so you can’t freewheel it. Training athletes often use them to prepare for races. Since you can’t change gears, you have to focus on your legwork. You have to spin your legs in constant circles to bike successfully.

Great for commuting: folding bikes

If you have long commutes where you also plan to use a car or train a part of the time, a folding bike might be the best choice. When folded, you can easily fit it in the car trunk or the train luggage compartment. A folding bike has small wheels and is not too speedy or durable but great for short trips in the city.

Cruiser bikes for leisure rides

Like comfort hybrids, they are for short, comfy roads. People usually use cruisers to go around the city or on beach promenades. They tend to have larger frames. Their seats are also larger and comfortable. Cruisers usually have balloon tires which ensure a smooth and easy ride. You ride in an upright position without leaning forward, which is good for your back. They are not very fast and often only have coaster brakes, activated by pedaling backward. But they are great for beginning cyclists or leisure rides in the cities.

Recumbent bikes for those who want to lie down

A recumbent bike is one of non-traditional bike types: you can tell from the first glance. Its seat is closer to the ground and looks almost like a chair. However, recumbent bikes have one disadvantage: it is difficult to go up the hill with them because you cannot stand up when riding this bike.

Tandem bikes for teamwork

Another kind of non-traditional bike is a tandem bike. Two or more people can ride tandem bikes. The first person, the captain, has to guide, steer, and brake. Ideally, they should be the most experienced person. The others, or the stokers, provide more cruising power. Tandem riding is great because you stay together and improve your teamwork. You can also involve people who would have trouble steering the bikes themselves.

Electric bikes: the future?

Just like electric scooters, electric bikes are really gaining popularity. They have a motor and a battery to assist you with pedaling. It’s not a motorbike as you still have to pedal. For example, they can help you battle those steep hills. When on the bike, you choose the level of assistance you want. They are becoming popular because they are more accessible: people can go on longer rides without fears of tiring out or replace cars in their daily commutes. There can be mountain electric bikes, road e-bikes, and hybrid e-bikes.

We hope that this article about bike types was helpful. Are you planning to rent one? Check out our article on how to rent a bike.

Electric scooters are cool. Whether you have your own or are planning to rent one, there are things you should know before riding off to the streets. You do not want to get a fine, do you? We will tell you all about California scooter laws, as they are set out in California Vehicle Code §21235, so you can ride your scooter safely and happily.

Wear a helmet if you are under 18

It is a legal requirement, which can get you a $200 fine if you do not comply. You can use a bicycle helmet, although a full-face helmet is safer. Remember to fasten it well.

Adults are not required to wear a helmet, but we really recommend it. Scooter accidents are pretty frequent, and you want to avoid head injuries at all costs. If you decide to ride without a helmet, you do it at your own risk.

Have a valid driver’s license

When riding a scooter, you have to carry a valid driver’s license. You also need one to rent a scooter. You can also use a learner’s permit instead. But if the police catch you on a scooter without a driver’s license or a learner’s permit, you will get a traffic ticket.

Do not tandem ride

Taking a passenger with you on the scooter, also known as a tandem ride, is forbidden. It is very unsafe as it becomes much harder to control a scooter with extra weight.

You also can’t carry any bundles that would not allow you to keep both hands on the handles.

Do not go faster than 15 mph

The speed limit for scooters is 15 miles per hour. If you go over it, you can be stopped and fined: the fine can be up to $250. So be careful not to speed too much!

If you use a Bird or Lime scooter, you won’t even be able to go faster. But if you ride at full-speed downhill, the speed increases, so keep that in mind.

Dismount when making a left turn

It might sound annoying, we know. But it’s the law, and the authorities passed it to protect you. Left turns are difficult, and the probability of an accident is pretty high. So when you want to turn left on an electric scooter, do this:

  • At the intersection, stop on the right curb;
  • Dismount;
  • Make a turn by walking.

Do not ride a scooter on the sidewalk

The best place to ride a scooter is bike lanes, either class II or class IV. Class II bikeways are separated from the street by a white stripe. Class IV bikeways have physical barriers from the street traffic, such as cones. The speed limit is also 15mph.

If you can see no bike lanes, you can travel on streets, but their speed limit cannot be higher than 25mph. Local authorities might also allow scooters on roads with speed limits up to 35mph. You still cannot ride the scooter faster than 15mph.

You can only step on sidewalks when you are planning to park the scooter (also, remember to park nicely to not block the area for pedestrians). Crosswalks are also technically sidewalks, so cross them on foot. You can get a ticket for not doing so.

Follow all other vehicle safety rules

According to the California Vehicle Code, an electric scooter has the same rights and obligations as other motor vehicles. Of course, you don’t have to wear a seatbelt because an electric scooter does not have one. But, for example, do not drive intoxicated: you can get a DUI charge just the same, as well as a ticket up to $350.

These are the most important laws to abide by when riding an electric scooter in California. There might also be some local rules in certain areas.

Electric scooters are all the hype now and for a reason. They are convenient, ecological, and fun. People use them for leisure riding and commuting. Some have their own scooters, but there are many scooters around the city for rent. Is it better to buy an electric scooter or just rent it when needed? Read on to learn.

Advantages of rental scooters

There is more than one reason why people rent scooters instead of buying them.

No worries about maintenance. As a renter, you are not responsible for maintaining the scooter at all. You will not have to repair it if needed. The rental company takes care of everything.

No charging. Although it’s not very expensive to charge a scooter, it takes time. When renting one, you don’t have to worry about it. Just find one with enough charge.

No need to store or carry the scooter. While not very heavy, scooters can still be a hassle to carry around. If you want to leave it outside, you have to find a good place for parking and lock it: otherwise, someone might steal it. But when you rent a scooter, you can park it everywhere. Of course, others would be thankful if you didn’t leave the scooter in the middle of a sidewalk. Also, try not to leave it somewhere in a ditch or your backyard so others can rent the scooter too!

Advantages of buying an electric scooter

The main advantage of having your own scooter is that you can ride it anytime you want. With rentals, you have to find one nearby with an app or place a reservation beforehand. That takes planning or extra time: you might open up a scooter rentals app to see that the nearest scooter is 5 miles away. Or there is no free scooter available at all. It can seriously mess up your plans.

Customization. Most rental scooters are pretty basic and of the same model. But when you buy an electric, you can get any kind you want. Or you can customize, choosing the parts yourself! This way you can have a perfect scooter to satisfy all your needs.

Good maintenance. If you rent through an app like Bird or Lime, there is a chance that a scooter will be poor-maintained. Although the companies try to ensure optimum maintenance, they can’t take care of everything, and some people tend to be careless. You will have to maintain the scooter yourself, but you can ensure better maintenance this way.

Finally, if you are not very much into the sharing economy, you will have the comfort of knowing that no stranger touched your scooter.

Does a rental scooter cost more?

It depends. Usually, the cost for unlocking the scooter is $1 (might be €1 in Europe). Afterward, the rate varies. It might be $0.1 per minute but could also be $0.35. It might differ in different cities. A standard rate is about $0.15 per minute: this is usually the cost for Lime scooters. You can also rent scooters for a few days with a fixed daily fee which can be cheaper if you plan to ride a lot during those days.

Purchasing a scooter has a high initial cost, of course. An average electric scooter can cost around $300, but many want to buy a better, maybe even a customized scooter. Such models can cost more than $1000.

A 20-minute ride with a rental scooter can cost around $5, including the unlocking price. If this is your commute and you plan to travel by scooter every day, twice a day, it might be better to invest in one; unless you don’t want to bother with parking, carrying, and maintenance. Otherwise, a rental scooter is way better for occasional and short-term rides.

So, should you purchase an electric scooter?

There are several questions to answer yourself. Are you planning to ride a lot regularly? Do you want a really good model rather than just a typical electric scooter? Are you prepared to repair and maintain the scooter? Do you have the budget for this one-time investment? If you answered yes, it might be better to buy an electric scooter instead of renting it.

It also depends on your location. If you live in a big city, there should be scooters aplenty. But if you come from a less populated place, it might be hard to find one for rent. In this case, buying might not even be a better decision but perhaps the only one available as well.

But if you are not so sure about riding much and want flexibility, it’s better to rent one. It’s a commitment and hassle-free option which can also cost less if you will only ride occasionally. Read our tips on renting an electric scooter.

Perhaps you are thinking about something different than the popular electric scooter? Check out our article on different types of scooters!

Have you ever wondered what exactly is a barge? Perhaps you are in the cargo transportation business? In any case, it might be useful to learn more about barges, be it for business or simply improving your knowledge. This short guide will discuss barge features, their types, sizes, and more.

So, how do you use a barge?

Barges are long boats that transport goods on waterways. They often have flat bottoms and are not self‑propelled but tugged or towed by other vessels, especially dry bulk barges. People do not use barges to travel across seas because they are flat and have shallow drafts. If a strong storm were to arise, the waves could easily flip the barge.

A barge is also not the same thing as a boat. A boat is any type of vessel, intended for carrying, fishing, leisure, etc. On the other hand, a barge is usually only intended for carrying cargo. They are also often bigger than boats and quite different from yachts.

However, there is also a concept of luxury barges. As you might guess, they are for leisure rather than work. They are more common in Europe, which has some very nice-looking canals to explore by barge. Some hotel barges, which have comfortable cabins to live at, offer tours aboard barges for several days.

Types of barges

Dry bulk barges. They carry dry goods, including grains, sand, minerals, etc. They are probably not what comes to mind when people think about ships: these barges look like big steel rafts. Dry bulk barges can have covers for the cargo box for weather-sensitive cargo.

The opposite of such barges is liquid cargo barges or tank barges, which carry liquids. The most common cargo is fuel, chemicals, vegetable oil, and water. Tank barges are often not as flat as dry bulk barges and look more like usual ships.

Split hopper barges. These boats are self-discharging: they have all the necessary gear to discharge cargo and do not need outside help. Of course, such a barge does not have as much space as dry bulk barges, for example. Split hopper barges are often used in marine construction. They can also be self-propelled.

Some rarer types include car floatsroyal barges, and houseboats. Car-float barges, mostly used in the 20th century, have railroad tracks and transport train cars and other rolling stock. Royal barges are used in some monarchies, such as the United Kingdom and Thailand: monarchs use them to travel on rivers. Houseboats are for living, as the name suggests. They are popular in Canada, Cambodia, or Thailand.

Barge sizes

Barges are also often classified according to size since it matters a lot. The size of the barge you need depends on what you are planning to transport.

Regarding the length, a typical American barge can be around 195 by 35 feet. In Europe, barges tend to be larger: 251 by 37 feet. Barges are also measured in TEUs or FEUs. They stand for twenty-feet equivalent and forty-feet equivalent, respectively, and refer to 20 or 40 feet containers.

According to Marine Insight, barges of 180 feet are the least popular; barges of 300 are used most commonly. Of course, if you have lots of cargo and need to transport as much as possible at once, larger barges might be better. In other cases, smaller barges will be cheaper and more comfortable.

Do you need a barge? Then consider renting one on XRental. We offer liquid cargo, dry bulk barges, and self‑propelled barges for affordable prices.

Are you planning a trip with a large group? Perhaps you will need to get lots of people from the airport to the hotel? Book a shuttle bus. Shuttles are buses that run between two points. They often operate in airports and busy areas, such as resort communities, business districts, and campuses. You can also charter shuttle buses to transport groups of people between specific points at the time you want. Let’s look at shuttle charter advantages, types of shuttles, and where to use them.

Advantages of shuttle bus rentals

No need for a car or a license. Not all people can drive or have a car. Car rentals are great, but they can still be costly in comparison, you worry about parking, etc. A shuttle only needs one driver (and you often rent shuttles together with a driver).

It’s economical. Since you only need one shuttle and one driver for many people, you save a lot of money compared to renting cars or taking taxis.

Better for the communityAccording to INRIX, in 2019, Americans lost 99 hours due to traffic congestion. While the numbers dropped significantly in 2020, the pandemic year, we expect they will rise once the situation is back to normal. But you can help! When you rent a shuttle bus for a group of people, which might choose cars otherwise, you decrease the congestions. You also produce less noise and make it safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Ecological. Because shuttle charters decrease the number of individual cars, they also lessen the emission rates. While the shuttle itself produces more CO2 because of its size, it will transport way more people than cars.

And safe. Shuttle drivers are usually experienced and not likely to make an accident. While the possibility exists, statistics show that bus occupants are the safest people on the highways, compared to car occupants, motorcyclists, pedestrians, or others. According to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics, in 2019, only 35 were bus occupants out of 36,096 highway deaths.

Types of shuttles

Like there are many types of cars, there are also many types of shuttles. The best kind of shuttle for you depends on your needs. Let’s look at them from the smallest to the largest.

Passenger vans or sprint vans. These are the smallest type of shuttles that can seat from 8 to 15 people and have space for luggage (but not too much). They are the most affordable because of their small size. But because of this, they also don’t have bathrooms or such features as karaoke and minibars. Some of them might have outlets and Wi-Fi, though.

Minibuses are a bit larger and can have up to 21 passengers. They also don’t have too much space for luggage and usually do not have amenities, maybe except for outlets, Wi-Fi and air‑conditioning sometimes. They are great for shorter distances, such as under 300 miles.

School buses. A bright yellow bus probably came to your mind. Would you like to rent one? It will not only brighten the mood of the trip but is also quite affordable. They can cost from $400 a day. However, it does not have many amenities: it might not even have space for luggage or air‑conditioning.

School bus

Coach buses or motor coaches. They are designed to be comfortable for long journeys, so they have many amenities: comfortable seats, baggage space, restrooms, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, audio-visual equipment. They are also large and fit up to 55 people. A coach bus can cost from $600 to $1,200 a day. If you want to have a comfortable trip but are traveling with fewer people, consider mini coach buses, which fit fewer passengers but have all the afore‑mentioned comforts. Coach buses are great for special occasions, from weddings to corporate events.

Party buses or limo-buses, which are also a type of limousines. It is one special bus because the seats are not in rows but along the edges to make room for games and dancing. They usually include everything necessary for a good party: sound systems, a TV monitor, optic lighting, and minibars. A similar type is the entertainer bus in which entertainers can live comfortably while on the road: they have kitchens and convertible bunks. Of course, these are the most expensive types that can cost $2,000 per day.

To sum up

Now you should have at least some ideas about the advantages of booking a shuttle bus and what kinds you can book. Think about the number of people, the length of journey, comforts needed, budget. But maybe you are looking for something more luxurious? There are occasions when limo services might be better.

Is an important event coming up? Do you want to make an impression or spend the day memorably? Consider hiring limo services. Limousines are luxurious cars, driven by a professional chauffeur, separated from the passengers with a glass partition to give more privacy. They can fit from 4 to 40 people as there are many limos of different sizes. Read on to learn about the best occasions to rent a limo and the best limousines for those occasions.

Picking up an important client with a limo

Are you meeting an important partner or prospective client at the airport? Perhaps you are taking them to dinner? Make a good impression with a limo! For this occasion, you can choose an executive sedan limo. Although a luxury sedan looks like a regular car and can only fit up to 4 people, it is very much a limo. There is a chauffeur, a glass partition separating passengers from the driver, and luxury and comfort as due. You can also choose this car to travel to a certain location, such as an important meeting. It might be better than rental cars because you do not have to drive yourself, or taxis because you get to travel more luxuriously.

Graduation

A prom night could be the most important one throughout all 12 school years (or more)! Many school graduates hire limos for the prom for a reason. Limos help make more memories, you travel comfortably and stylishly, and you can enjoy the trip with your friends while someone does the driving for you. Rent the limo for the whole evening so you can go to numerous locations, such as dinner, dance, etc. Graduates also usually choose the classic stretch limo but opt for various colors, from black to pink. A party limo might also be a great idea as it has even more space, a dance floor, a minibar, and more!

Limo services for your wedding day

It might be the most significant day in your life, so meet it with style! Although you might make memories aplenty already, a limo certainly would not hurt. You can focus on your partner, while a professional chauffeur smoothly drives you to your destination. Usually, a classic white stretch limo is chosen for weddings, adorned with flowers. If you want to be even more stylish, choose a vintage limo or a hummer limo.

Limos for weddings

Sending off loved ones respectfully: funerals

While funerals are the opposite of a joyous occasion, limo services might still be a great idea. You can pick up friends and family coming to the funeral from the airport. For this occasion, a classic black limo would be best. Choose a stretch limousine, if there are more people. It can be a very respectful send‑off of your loved one that has passed away.

Bachelor or bachelorette party

For some people, the bachelor and bachelorette parties are almost as important as weddings. Perhaps you will be the maid of honor or the best man and have to organize this party? A limo would be an awesome touch! Limo services offer a memorable ride that will allow you to party luxuriously inside without any worries about driving. For this occasion, various limo types work. However, consider a spacious car, such as a super stretch limousine, or a party bus.

Important anniversaries

Some anniversaries are more important than others. Is it your 21st or 50th birthday? Maybe a 10th year marriage anniversary? Why not make it memorable by hiring a limo? It can be a great part of your trip to a restaurant, event, or another special location. A classic stretch limo would be the best, especially for such things as marriage anniversaries. But if you want to spice it up, hummer limos or vintage limos could work.

A special day or night out

Finally, a limousine can be perfect for special outings. Perhaps you are planning to propose to your love? The right mood is crucial, and a limo might be just what you need. It can also be just a simple date, but it will become very memorable due to the limo! People also hire limousines for parties with friends. Limo services are especially popular on New Year Eve’s. You can even rent a limo on a day you decided to pamper yourself, such as to go to the spa.

You probably noticed how many scooters are around today. They are becoming popular not only for commuting but also for leisure and fun. Maybe you are also planning to buy a scooter or rent one? Or perhaps you are simply interested in learning more about them? There are different types of scooters, all with their advantages and disadvantages. Let‘s get down and analyze them.

There can be several classifications of scooters, although they are not as complicated as yacht types. You can divide scooters by their engine or lack of one. Then there are many shapes and designs. Scooters can also be either standing or sitting scooters.

Traditional scooters, where the only engine is you

What do you think about when we say a scooter? Many think of the simple-looking kick scooter, often used by kids, although today they are probably even more popular with adults. You stand on them, you kick the ground with your foot, and you move. Let‘s look at some subtypes of no-engine scooters.

Traditional kick scooters. They likely come to most minds when someone says ‘scooter’. They are cheap and easy to use, but you can’t use them on streets: ride them on sidewalks. Such scooters are very good for low-impact exercise: it’s something between running and cycling.

Foldable scooters. Both kick scooters with no engine and electric scooters can be foldable. Foldable scooters are more mobile and easier to carry. Of course, they can also be a bit more expensive.

Pro scooters. Such scooters are designed for stunts and tricks in extreme sports. They are heavier and more durable. In most cases, they are not foldable, and the height is not adjustable.

Three wheels and four wheels. Third-wheeled scooters are often known as being for children since they are easier to control. But there are also adult third-wheel scooters. They are more stable than traditional two-wheeled kick scooters.

Kickbikes or footbikes. A kickbike is an interesting-looking half a scooter, half a bike. The wheels are like a bike’s, but it has no seat, no pedals, and no gears: you kick it like a kick scooter. However, they are much speedier and more durable than kick scooters, and you can ride them on uneven terrain much better. They are also considered very good for exercising, allowing you to work out your whole body with little risk of injury.

And even more types of motorized scooters with an engine

Motorized scooters often look very similar to kick scooters, only that they are self-propelled. Before they used gas, now they use electricity. Electric motors, of course, are better, if you remember to charge them. Also, better not to ride them during heavy rain or through big puddles, although a drizzle is fine. There are three types of electric scooters:

Electric kick scooters. They are super popular right now, and you are bound to see them in most cities. E-scooters look just like simple kick scooters but have an electric motor. You still have to kick the ground for it to start, but then it will run by itself. In the US, you cannot drive them on sidewalks. You can do so on public roads and bike lanes, where the speed limit is 25mph and cannot exceed 15mph while riding, although laws differ in different states and can be unclear. Learn about scooter laws in California and Hawaii.

Full-size or motor scooters. They might look somewhat similar to mopeds and people sometimes confuse them but they are not mopeds. Learn more about differences between motor scooters and mopeds. You can drive motor scooters on streets and roads but not sidewalks. They are best if you like stability as they have thicker wheels and are more stable than standing scooters.

Self-balancing scooters. They are another type encompassing several subtypes. There are one-wheeled electric unicycles and two-wheeled segways. Segways have a shorter deck compared to kick scooters, and you put feet differently. They can have a typical-looking handle or a knee handle. There are also hoverboards, which do not have any handles. Can you ride them on sidewalks? Segways seem to be legal in public in certain states. Hoverboards, not really: best use them on your private property.

To sum up, scooters differ in shape, design, size, and engines. If you want to exercise, choose a traditional kick scooter or a footbike. But if your goal is to get around the city, choose an e-scooter or even a full-size scooter. Check out scooters for rent on XRental!

Are you thinking about whether to book a planned tour or not? Whether you are traveling solo, with your family, or with friends, group tours might be a good idea. Of course, they are not for everyone. We will discuss their advantages, disadvantages, and maybe help you decide whether tours are good for you.

Advantages of group tours

Planning. It is usually the number one reason people go for group tours. You don’t have to think about where to stay and how much time to spend at some place: you just follow a schedule. With a good tour, you can see and experience the best sights in the area, both famous attractions and local gems. For this reason, they are also perfect for those with little time. Of course, this can also be a disadvantage. It means that you have little freedom.

Safety. Almost every city has some shady areas it is best to avoid. When exploring cities by yourself, you can easily stumble upon those. But a guide will know such places well and will not lead you to danger. Even if you manage to get into trouble, they will help you solve any arising problems.

Socializing. Sharing experiences is a very human thing that often brings us lots of happiness. If you are traveling solo, it might become lonely with no one near with whom to share all the marvelous things you experience. Joining a group tour even for half a day is an opportunity to share experiences. You will be together with like-minded people, experiencing the same things you can then discuss. Of course, this can turn into a disadvantage, especially for introverts. If the tour is long, that one obnoxious tourist or the one who is always late can really start getting on your nerves, making you wish you were traveling independently.

What people enjoy group tours the most?

It will probably come as a no-brainer that group tours are better for extroverts. If you hate being alone just for a day, traveling solo for a week or more might become quite unpleasant. Joining a group tour once or twice might bring back extroverts some energy. On the other hand, if you are an introvert, tours might suck out all the fun. If you are an introvert but still want a tour, try to find small group tours with more free time or for a shorter time period.

They are also great for worriers and anxious people. Everything is planned in a group tour and taken care of for you, from accommodation to transportation. You will hardly have to worry about missing or confusing the bus, getting lost or language barriers. There will be a guide to help you out whatever happens. You will be able to relax and focus on sights and experiences.

If you are traveling solo, tours might also be cheaper. When traveling solo, both transportation and accommodation can become quite expensive as you pay for everything yourself. On the other hand, tours usually book at discounts because they book for many people. Of course, it depends: some are expensive while others have very reasonable prices.

Final tips for finding the perfect tour

Today group tours rarely follow the ‘one size fits all’ philosophy. There are many of them, and they are designed for different people. So if you do not like the tour, it was probably never meant for you. One of the most important things is to research everything as much as possible before booking.

First, look at people in the advertisements for the tour. If they look older, the group tour is probably for older people. If there are families, it might not be fun for a young single person. Check out FAQ or reviews: you might find out what kind of people the tour is recommended for or what kind of people book it. Also, try to find how many people will be there approximately because it can affect the experience very much.

Moreover, check out the list of experiences. Try to make out the pace of the tour. The right pacing is essential because the trip being too slow for you will make you impatient. And if it’s too fast, you will become exhausted.

Did we help you decide whether group tours are for you? Perhaps you thought that no, independent travel is better. Or maybe you are interested in a middle option: self-drive tours? Check out our article about them!

Do you have a vacation home that is unoccupied a lot of the time? Are you thinking about renting it out short-term and looking for information? Or perhaps you are already renting it. But there are more and more properties for rent, and it can be hard to find renters or make them happy. We prepared these vacation rental tips for you to find more guests, make them happy, get good reviews, and earn more with short-term rentals!

1. Let them know what to expect in your vacation rental

When you post an ad for your rental property, ensure that everything is as clear as day! If your prospective guests don’t understand something, they will likely skip to another ad instead of inquiring about it. So, create an extensive description: describe rooms, beds, the layout, the amenities, places of interest nearby, any quirks, etc.

Having high-quality photos is also very important to grab your guests’ attention. Another of vacation rental tips is hiring a professional photographer to take the photos. It pays off when you get lots of guests!

2. Cleaning and providing the basics

Leave the place as clean as a whistle. Scrubbing toilets is not too much fun, but you should do it for your guests. Vacuum or sweep the apartment thoroughly, and make it clutter-free.

And make sure to provide all basic necessities. It includes enough toilet paper, soap, several towels, dishes, and utensils. Just think about what you need to stay in a property comfortably and then prepare all these things.

3. Quality bed, pillows, and linen

People spend a third of their lives sleeping, and it’s similar during trips. We need accommodations because we need somewhere to sleep. So if you have a good bed and high-quality linens, people will surely notice and appreciate it! You can also get several different pillows because different people like different pillows.

Another good idea is to have a rollaway bed. Sometimes more people might want to book your space, or they might not want to sleep on one bed, even if it’s spacious. Such beds take up very little space but can be very useful.

4. Extra goodies

Your guests are looking for a nice place to stay in first and foremost. But if there are extra things in the vacation rental, even better for them and you, as you will get good reviews! One example of going the extra mile is to prepare a welcome basket. You can put many things there: a bottle of good wine, cookies, crackers, maybe sodas, bottled or filtered water. You can even leave some basic groceries for them, such as bread, milk, cereal, jam, and eggs. That will save your guests from having to go grocery shopping, and they might be very thankful!

You could also include such modern comforts as gaming systems, Netflix, beach toys if you are in a beach area. Once again, think about what you would like to have and add it to your apartment! It might seem like expenses at first, but it will soon repay with constant bookings.

5. Help the vacation rental guests

Finally, help your guests as much as you can. Ask how they will arrive and give them clear instructions to getting to your place, by car, train or other transportation. Leave your number in an easy place to see so they can contact you if they need something. Have a person in the location who can come and fix things if something happens, such as the pipe bursting.

It might also be helpful to prepare a guidebook for your guests. Everything in your property might look easy and understandable to you, but it’s not the same for your guests who are visiting this place for the first time. Noting everything in a guidebook – from Wifi passwords to how to turn on the stove – will make the lives of your guests easier, and they will be more thankful. Just think what they might need and use and write instructions in your guidebook.

If you follow these vacation rental tips, your rental is bound to become popular with the guests! Perhaps you are looking for a vacation apartment yourself? Read why vacation rentals are better than hotels.

Are you planning a trip and thinking about where to stay? Unless you have a friend in town, the two most common options are renting a vacation apartment or staying in a hotel. A hotel is usually a more common choice. However, vacation rental apartments have many pros and are becoming more and more popular. We are going to discuss why.

Vacation rentals pros

Living like a local. Why do people travel? One of the main reasons is to get out of the comfort zone, to see and experience new things. Often we want to experience the local culture, so we listen to stories, look for hidden gems, and taste traditional dishes. Guess what? Renting an apartment instead of a hotel can also help you feel more like a local! While the atmosphere in hotels might be unique and exciting, it does not necessarily feel local. When you rent an apartment with locals for your neighbors, go out to buy groceries, and make food yourself, you will be able to immerse yourself in a local culture much more.

Cooking. When you stay in a hotel, you usually don’t have a place to cook. That means you either order food from the hotel or eat out. Both of these options can increase travel costs quite a bit. Preparing the food yourself is much more economical. Moreover, it will also allow you to experience what locals do every day.

Privacy and space. While leaving a messy room and coming back to find it clean might be very appealing to some, others hate the idea of maids visiting their rooms. You will have to clean up after yourself in the vacation rental, but at least you’ll know no stranger touched anything! Moreover, apartments have more space and are great for groups: you can stay in separate rooms but will still be very close.

Finally, if you are staying for a longer time, a vacation rental might be much cheaper. Hotels are quite expensive to run, so they take more from you. Of course, in an apartment, you have to buy the food yourself, but generally, they are still more cost-effective.

Here are some other comparisons between a vacation rental and a hotel

When booking a hotel might be better

While we believe that renting an apartment is still the better choice overall, a hotel can be a good choice in some cases. One of the main reasons to book a hotel is when you are traveling for a short time. Often, the apartments are rented for at least a week. The checking-in might also be a bit harder than at the hotel: you have to get the keys from an owner at a convenient time for them. Although nowadays some use smart locks which ease the things quite a bit!

You will also have to clean up after yourself. Unlike in a hotel, no one will make your bed for you. If you are on a business trip or only want to see the sights and come back somewhere to sleep in the evening, hotels might be a better choice.

If you are staying in a vacation rental alone, the cost might not differ too much from a hotel price for a room. Vacation rentals are the most cost-effective when you are traveling with a group.

How to find the right vacation rental

It really depends on what you look for (and your budget). For example, if you plan to use public transport, a remote apartment might not be too comfortable. On the other hand, if you have a car or are planning to rent a car, inquire about parking.

Some other things to consider are the neighborhood safety, beautiful views, and proximity to shops and restaurants. You might also be looking for a home with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, or a washer. It might not be possible to find an apartment with everything cheaply, but you can find one with at least some of the things you want.

To sum up, there is more than one reason to book an apartment instead of a hotel during trips. Most importantly, you get to experience how locals live, but you will also be able to cook and save money if you travel for a longer time or with a group.

Are you planning a vacation in Hawaii? Why don’t you rent a bike? Biking is a relatively fast way to get around, a cheap one, and you can see many breathtaking sites. Read on to learn about renting bikes in Hawaii.

Advantages of renting bikes in Hawaii

Hawaii is a super popular vacation spot and is known for its beauty. There are so many beautiful beaches to relax at, a crystal clear ocean to try water activities, national parks with volcanoes to awe at, memorials such as Pearl Harbor to visit, and more. And exploring it by bike is one of the best options. Bikes allow you to take in the scenic views in Hawaii just perfectly. After all, when you are in the car, you can’t stop just anywhere or feel the fresh air. And walking is pretty slow. Bikes are also cheaper and much more ecological than cars.

The disadvantages are that biking requires energy. You also get very sweaty since Hawaii is hot. If you are not the most sportive person, cycling might tire you out too much. It will also take a considerably long time to get to farther locations. In this case, consider rental cars.

Bike rental options

In Honolulu, there is also a bike share system called Biki, which is quite affordable and can help you get around the city. However, that means that you have to leave the bikes at Biki stations. Because of this, the places you can get to are limited. Some people also pointed out that it can be hard finding stations even with the app. A monthly membership of unlimited 30-minute rides is $15 a month and $25 for unlimited 60-minute rides. One 30-minute ride is $4.

But if you want to explore more than just Honolulu, Biki bikes are not an option. There are many other bike rental services, which allow renting the bikes for more days. Expect to pay at least $20 a day when renting bikes for more than two days. Learn what to consider when renting a bike.

Trails and tours

There are so many stunning sites to explore by bikes in Hawaii that describing them all would require a separate article or two. We are only going to mention a few and other options, such as organized tours.

The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in the Big Island is one of the best places to explore by bike. Some of the more popular trails include a moderately easy 11-mile long loop around the rim, an 18-mile round trip on the Hilina Pali Road. Are you looking for a challenge? There is a 40-mile long round trip following the Maunu Ulu eruption or a 27-mile round trip up and down the Mauna Loa Road. You will have to work your legs, but it sure will feel rewarding afterward!

There are many other stunning trails in Hawaii. Every island has something to offer cyclists. Maui island is beautiful, but there are fewer good roads for cycling. Still, check out the Skyline Trail in Maui below. In Oahu, where the capital Honolulu is, you can find both nature and city trails. Kauai, Hilo, Molokai, and Lanai also have many attractions: google it! Be aware that you need mountain bikes for some routes. Learn about different bike types.

If you want to travel by bike without worrying about rent or trails, consider organized bike tours. They usually cost around $100 per person, including the bike, of course. There are also multiday tours that include lodgings and dinners. Of course, the price is also higher. But if you don’t like planning, tours might be just perfect for you.

To sum up, there are many bike rental options and many places to visit by bikes in Hawaii. You can use Biki share in Honolulu and other rental services if you want to travel further. If you wish to worry and plan less, you can also book bike tours, which can include everything from bikes to lodgings.

Is your parking spot on your property sitting idly? Would you like to earn some extra money? Rent out your parking space. In this article, we will tell you about the sparking situation in the US, the advantages of renting out your parking space, how much you can earn with this, and how to do it.

Parking situation in the US

study by INRIX found that US drivers spend 17 hours per year looking for parking on average. In some congested places a third of the traffic might be drivers cruising for parking, another study finds. And the costs can be immense, reaching $27 per hour in New York, while purchasing a parking spot can cost $600,000.

With such a situation, no wonder that rental spots are in demand or that many people rent out their parking space. Some people that rent a parking spot are traveling for vacations or business with their own or rental cars. Others might live in the city but not have a parking space. To be sure, few people want to lose time roaming around looking for a space to park. Having one reserved saves both time and peace of mind.

On the other hand, there are some people who have a parking space but do not have a car or hardly use it. So, even if it’s just a few days a week that your parking space is unoccupied, you can benefit from it!

How much can you earn with your parking space?

It depends. The most important factor, of course, is the city. Are you renting out a parking space in Brooklyn or Atlanta? You might earn $300 in one place and $50 in another. The closer the spot to the city center, the more valuable it usually is. Parking spaces near airports and stations are also not too bad.

On average, you can earn about $200 per month when you rent out a parking space. You can get even more if the parking spot is large, there are CCTV cameras and good lighting around. Spaces in indoor garages are also worth more, and you can expect even $300 per month.

Perhaps you also have a car that you are not using much? You can rent it out too! Learn how to rent out your car.

How to rent out your spot

First, you should make sure that renting out your parking space is legal. The parking spot has to be exclusively yours: it cannot be a common element of the building where you live. If the spot is yours, but you are just a tenant in your living space, check with the owner that they allow renting it. You should also check your city bylaws and make sure it’s legal. Then you can think about how to rent out your parking space.

You can post an ad yourself or trust an app. The apps can simplify the procedure, and you can save time. They can also help to handle payments. Of course, there are some disadvantages, like possible membership fees, commissions, or caps on your earnings. Some of the popular ones include ParkingForMe, ParkOnMyDrive, and SpotHero. Check out other ads in your location to decide on the price you will ask.

Other people do not use apps and post ads themselves. Some places you can do this are Craiglist, Facebook groups, or just your neighborhood bulletin. While you hardly have to pay any fees, there is less security. There is no verification and no help with handling payments. If trouble arises, you will have to deal with it all by yourself.

If you are renting the parking space for quite some time yourself, it’s recommended to draw up a contract with your renter. You should also agree on the time to pay the rent, such as the beginning of the month.

XRental is also planning to expand to renting parking spaces soon. You could join us and post an ad for your parking space! We will not rip you off: our motto is allow partners to make money. Posting an ad here is simple and easy. Contact us if you wish to rent out your parking space and earn money!

Are you thinking about renting out a yacht? What kind would you like? Then read on! This article covers different types of yachts and their advantages. It might help you decide which kind is the best for you!

What is a yacht, anyway?

The answer to this seemingly simple question is more complicated than you might think. Even the dictionaries can’t agree. The Cambridge dictionary provides two definitions. The first one is “a boat with sails and sometimes an engine, used for either racing or traveling on for pleasure.” The other one, which is more common in the US, states that a yacht is a “large and usually expensive boat, used for racing or traveling around for pleasure.” That’s the one we are going by too. And we will only focus on yachts for pleasure purposes. Sorry, yacht racers.

So, how large is this “large boat”? Most sites state that a yacht is at least 30 ft long. It should also have some cabins and amenities so that people feel comfortable aboard. Some boat owners say that yachts must be longer: according to some, it’s only from 78 ft that it is a yacht. Usually, a yacht of this length is considered a superyacht. And if it’s over 164 ft or 50 m, it’s a megayacht.

One of the most popular types: motor yachts

Some people still think that only wooden boats with sails are yachts. While it’s a common type, motor yachts are probably more popular. Instead of sails, they have an engine, and you mustn’t know how to sail! You must know how to control a motor yacht, of course, but it’s easier than sailing one. They are also perfect for parties and can include many features, such as hot tubs! As well as various water toys, fishing gear and more. Vacationers also often use motor yachts to travel from one place to another.

There are very many subtypes of motor yachts. For example, there are express cruisers, which are faster than cabin cruiser yachts. Motor yachts can also have very distinct shapes. For example, there is the flybridge yacht, which has an open area where the roof of the yacht would be, usually covered by a hardtop. Hardtop motor yachts do not have such a feature. There are also fully-enclosed motor yachts with hardly any open areas. They look very smooth, though. There are also trawlers, which remind workboats a little bit. They are great for long journeys. And fishing yachts have all the comforts of the usual ones but also allow you to enjoy fishing to the fullest. There are also houseboats, which look exactly like a house but are floating on water! If you are interested in motor yachts, check out this video which extensively explores many types of power yachts.

Some types, describing the design, can be both motor and sailing yachts. For example, a catamaran has two parallel hulls and it can either have an engine or sails. There are also trimarans with three hulls. And yachts with even four or five hulls!

Sailing yachts and other types

Do you want to experience what it is like to sail a boat completely on your own, just like in old times? This is the main reason why people choose sailing yachts. Of course, you must know how to sail. Some sailing yachts only have sails, while others are hybrids: they also have motors installed so you can return to the port safely in case something goes bad. There are also classic yachts, built in the past. Many of these were handcrafted and have a very different feeling from modern boats. Of course, they are also more expensive to charter.

If you want an even more exotic feel, try a Gulet yacht! It’s a Turkish two-masted (and sometimes three-masted) wooden sailing yacht. In the past, people used gulets for fishing. Nowadays, they are very popular among tourists for pleasure purposes. It has both a motor and sails.

Sailing yachts are often classified according to hulls (monohull, catamaran, or multi-hull). These all have classes: for example, monohull classes are dinghy, sloop, cutter, ketch, catboat, and schooner. They can also be classified according to keels.

Now you know quite a bit about different types of yachts. Perhaps you will now know which one is the best fit for you. If you already know that and are planning to rent one, check out this article on how to rent a yacht affordably and best yachting destinations in the Mediterranean.

Of course, it is more expensive to rent a yacht than a car. After all, the average yacht cost is much higher than the average car cost. The boating lifestyle is often considered a very luxurious one. The ultra-rich often buy boats and spend lots of money on them. However, chartering a yacht is not as unimaginable as it might seem at first. It might even be cheaper than other options in some cases.

What makes it expensive to rent a yacht?

Rental prices for yachts can range from several hundred to several thousand dollars per day. It depends on many factors.

First, of course, is the yacht itself, especially its size. Do you want to charter a yacht for four or 24 people? Most can only have up to 12 people aboard because of regulations of Safety of Life at Sea. Of course, some are much bigger and can have much more passengers, but the price goes up considerably. Design and age also affect the price. The better the design, the higher the cost, of course. Learn more about different types of yachts.

The destination is also important. Places with well-developed yachting businesses tend to have lower prices. However, if you are looking to rent at or reach some exotic location, the price will likely go up.

The time during which you rent the yacht matters too. In the Caribbean, the yachting season approximately lasts from late November to May. The official start of the season is in early December when the Antigua Charter Yacht Show takes place. However, in New York, the high season is from late April to late October. Basically, the season dates depend on the optimal weather and temperature for yachting. Of course, rental prices are much higher during the yachting season.

Now, let’s compare the prices a little. The average cost of a rental yacht in California is about $1,100 per day. In the Bahamas, the most popular yachting location in the Caribbean, the daily price during high season starts from $2,000. But the average is more like $4,000. It’s pretty similar in New York. In Saint Tropez, sailboats and catamarans can cost less than $500 per day.

Tips for cheaper yacht charters

Do you only need the boat and are planning to sail yourself or find your own crew? This way is known as a bareboat charter. Of course, it’s cheaper but can more troublesome. Also, in many cases, it is only possible renting a yacht together with the captain. Check out the video about bareboat chartering if you are interested:

If you want to get a good deal, start looking early, like 7 to 12 months before your planned yachting trip. The closer it is to your vacation, the more expensive it becomes. Also, if you want to save, opt for older yachts, which are maybe four years old. They are new enough to be reliable but still a little bit cheaper.

Finally, it’s best if you find and close the deal yourself, without any agents. Agencies can rip off up to 35% of the rent price. It is also better to communicate directly with the owner in case any trouble arises.

And if you really want to save, you can rent just a cabin instead of the whole yacht. It’s like a group tour but on a yacht! Sure, there is way less privacy and freedom. But if you like socializing and want a cheaper experience, it might be a good choice for you.

Is it worth it?

Yes, if you want to try a boating lifestyle and spend a few relaxing days this way. If you wish to taste luxury without long‑term obligations, also yes. Finally, if you are looking to host an unforgettable party, definitely rent a yacht! It might also be cheaper than week-long cruise tickets for a large family. If you are really trying to save money, well, think about it. Renting yachts is more expensive than renting cars, to be sure. But it’s affordable, depending on your budget and your needs.

It is also much, much cheaper than buying one. While having one might be something more to boast of, it will cost you so much more. Yachts are expensive to buy, depreciate like cars, and require lots of sustenance. You are also not likely to use it for more than 30 days a year which means that the yacht will sit idle 11 months out of 12. When you rent a yacht, you can save lots of money, not care about maintenance, or the purchase sitting idly. And you will be able to relax on a yacht, getting this extraordinary experience.

To sum up, if you have some money and are looking for a unique experience for yourself, your family or your friends, a yacht charter might be perfect. Consider all the factors, such as location, season, yacht size, crew, and decide on what you need. Try to close the deal without agents and a long time in advance to save money.

Have you ever heard about a desert safari? Dune bashing? It‘s a unique experience that you can only get in certain parts of the world, such as Dubai. A wild world will reveal itself before your eyes. You can hire a guide or drive through the safari yourself. Let us tell you everything you need to know.

Why do people love desert safari experiences?

There are many reasons why this activity is so popular. First of all, it’s unique. Most people live far from the deserts, crammed in the cities. And in the desert, you only see vastness ahead of you. The sight of such a barren wasteland even makes some people dizzy! But sand dunes and rock formations also look astounding.

desert

Of course, there is also the thrill of driving through the desert. Whether you are at the wheel yourself or have hired a driver, the vehicle climbing up and down the dunes and tilting at impossible angles will be like nothing you experienced before!

Also, if you join an organized tour, there are many other attractions include in the packages. You usually drive to a camp in the desert. One more distinctive ambiance awaits you there! You will be able to try delicious Emirati dishes and different shisha flavors, get a henna tattoo if you want. There is also live entertainment, such as belly dancing and spinning dancing. The price for booking a safari tour is from $10 to $40, but of course, the cost can grow with more activities included.

Driving with a guide or by yourself

There are many deals offered in Dubai to try safari drives. For example, a guide can pick you up, drive you across the desert, take you to the camp to enjoy other activities. You can also choose to go to the desert connection point with your own car, which will be cheaper.

There are also many self-drive desert safari packages offered. At the desert meeting point, you can get a 4×4 vehicle, usually a Jeep Wrangler. You will also get instructions on how to drive safely. Then you will drive your jeep in a guided convoy. You can take up to three passengers and share driving with one other person.

Of course, if you seek even more freedom and thrill, you can try going out to the desert alone. Remember that you can’t drive a rental car onto the sand: it will breach the contract. And if something happens, insurance won’t cover you. If you want to drive by yourself, make sure to find insurance that will cover off-roading accidents. Also, do not go out alone. At least two vehicles with all the equipment needed should go so they can help each other. If you want to learn off-roading, Emirati Driving Institute offers such courses.

What to beware of in the desert

Just like with any rewarding experience, there are also some risks associated with desert safaris. We will tell you what to be careful about so your experience can be as enjoyable as possible.

First of all, it’s the sand. You are driving across a wild desert which is basically heaps of sand. Sand can get anywhere and damage the equipment. Try only taking the necessary devices to the trip.
